Albert Shar

I am driven to find practical solutions to today’s real world problems. A staggering number of technology projects fail and larger projects are more likely to fail than others. I am an expert on avoiding these failures. These failures are almost always due to inadequate alignment, planning and execution. I have a history of implementing successful technologies in health care, health technology, pharmaceuticals, higher education and the not for profit sectors. Areas of Expertise

  • Evidence

For some devices/technologies FDA and especially others require demonstration that the intervention does what is intended. In digital health it is typically the case that traditional methods of evidence are neither appropriate nor efficient. I have deep experience in developing new designs that demonstrate evidence.

    • Regulatory
    • FDA clearance and approval
  • Value and design

Even when there is evidence that an intervention is effective if used, there usually needs to be demonstration that it will be used and that there are likely exit strategies. I am expert at both evaluating interventions and designing ways to demonstrate value.

  • My experience with Dr. Shar was great. He provided me with invaluable feedback and offered direction that I can't wait to follow up on. He was very sensitive to the time he was taking and made sure to be as on point as possible. I would definitely recommend.

I've worked with Al Shar over many years as a colleague both at the University of Pennsylvania and at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Al is a brilliant strategist, thoughtful and careful steward of both human and financial resources and an expert in all things technological. At RWJF, we simply could not have achieved our communications success without his wise counsel and collaborative and non-territorial approach to problem-solving. Perhaps most importantly, he is a delightful colleague and all-around great guy, the kind any organization needs.

I have found his counsel very useful, and his knowledge of the technology industry is very thorough. I have enjoyed working with Al, and look forward to working with him again in the future.
