  Alta Devices | March 2011 - Current

  Alta is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hanergy Holdings (as of August 2014) producing ultra high-efficiency thin film photovoltaic solar cells. Alta's solar cells are lightweight and flexible and can be embedded into anything that needs to charge while moving. Our customers are makers of small tactical and large high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), cubesats, stratospheric balloons, sensors and beacons, etc. --> Built strategic supply chain plan, particularly for consumables in our film deposition process. --> Contributed to Agile/Oracle e-business implementation: system customization; user acceptance; moving all our operational workflows to the new system; on-going system improvements to support our growing business. --> Managed Alta's relationship with US Department of Energy, NREL, Department of Defense, and legislative branch. --> Represented Alta at Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG), Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA), SEMI and National Defense Industry Association (NDIA). --> Wrote and managed several multi-million dollar grant applications with DoE and DoD. --> Managed export control (ITAR) and defense procurement compliance. --> Co-chaired high efficiency workgroup at Stanford-led Bay Area PV Consortium. --> Selected an industrial site for first volume factory, with real-estate and incentive negotiations across several US states and international jurisdictions such as Germany, Mexico, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore. --> Assisted in recruitment of JV partner with financial resources and manufacturing know-how to help Alta's business scale. --> Recruiting and hiring engineers for core R&D and pilot line teams.
