Electronic Medical Records
I am currently managing the data science team in the Center for Biomedical Research Informatics at NorthShore University HealthSystem in the northern suburbs of Chicago. In this role I oversee the design, development and deployment of structured clinical documentation systems in collaboration with physician investigators across nearly all clinical specialties.
MOBecause he refuses to settle for the status quo, Brian is constantly trying to push the boundaries of innovation. He consistently not only procures meetings with extremely influential decision makers, but also sells them on his vision. He is adept at building a team and bringing various parties together in order to achieve a common goal. Brian is incredibly passionate about what he does and pours every ounce of himself into his work.
BABrian is well versed in the emerging health technology space and his consulting experience allows him to apply these concepts into his writing and solving care delivery solutions. CHBrian and I work extensively with the East Baton Rouge Parish EMS department to develop the BR-Med Connect Program, a telemedicine program for EMS. Brian works tirelessly in the areas of research, grant identification, and business development. With his assistance, implementation plans have been formulated and we are moving into the next phase of this project. Brian is intelligent, focused, and energetic. Health Heritage | July 2014 - Current
Health Heritage is a decision support tool that generates an individual's comprehensive family health history automatically using natural language processing and electronic medical records. Each patient's unique family history is used to generate a personalized risk assessment for cancers known to be related to certain genetic profiles. Once an elevated level of risk is determined, physicians can order targeted genetic tests and refer patients to high-risk clinics and genetic counseling. Brian leads operations and business development in support of the research and development team led by co-Founders Bill Knaus, MD, Leigh Baumgart, PhD and Will Thompson, PhD.

Oxitone Medical is a mobile health startup based in Tel Aviv, Israel, developing the first in a non-invasive, wrist-worn pulse oximeter which continuously captures blood oxygen saturation, pulse and respiratory data in an ambulatory setting for remote monitoring purposes. Brian provides specialized consulting on communications, business planning and business development to Oxitone Medical CEO Leon Eisen.

MedStartr is a startup building a niche crowdfunding platform for health and wellness projects. Brian is the company's Chicago-based evangelist working with local startups, providers and thought leaders to organize local events to promote crowdfunding and digital health innovation.

Wave Technology Group is a developer of mobile health applications for iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Windows Mobile platforms. Wave's first application uses wearable, non-invasive physiological sensors to provide real-time mobile diagnostic ambulatory EEG monitoring for patients suffering from chronic epilepsy. Brian worked with Jonathan Silverstein, MD, to conduct comprehensive due diligence on the market opportunity and drafted the company's initial business plan.
