Health Care Regulations and Policy
I served in a wide variety of roles at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services from operations manager, to quality improvement coach, to lead analyst of the meaningful use aspects of the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Program. This breadth of experience that has taken me from the Secretary's conference room to HHS regional offices provides a unique regulatory perspective.
Strategy at the Intersection of Health IT, Payers, Providers
Beyond being complaint with policy and regulations, identifying the opportunities that exist for health IT to be a tool that aligns payer and provider interests and turning that alignment into business opportunities through Accountable Care Organizations and other value-based payments.
Behavioral Health Care Economics and Quality Improvement
One of the ultimate test and learn environments, as payers and others develop incentives and reform payment methods do they get the behavior changes desired or are they truly incentivizing something else. From one of the largest incentive programs ever in meaningful use to two week sprints conducted with individual practices, I have been involved in a wide variety of these efforts.
RPHaving the opportunity to study both public health and business administration with Travis was a pleasure. His refreashing approach to understanding the health care industry and applying business principles to each situation was inspiring. Health Care Policy Lead

It’s to achieve lower cost through better care and better health. My responsibilities are to navigate the policies of our partnerships between our doctors and payers, be an advocate for our doctors in the health care policy space and to integrate policy, data analysis and environmental awareness into our company strategy.
Regional Operations Manager

Managing the branch responsible for CMS regional operations for fee for service operations (Medicare Part A, Part B and Special Programs) for Region VI (AR, LA, NM, OK, TX). Regional operations includes policy expertise in Part A and Part B, technical monitoring of CMS contractors operating in the region, and business development for several CMS special projects, such as the durable medical equipment competitive bidding program, the Electronic Health Record incentive program and Accountable Care Organizations.
Team Lead for Policy and Oversight

My team is responsible for policy and oversight in the Health Information Technology Group at CMS. We establish policy for meaningful use, provide project management and oversight and conduct outreach for the Medicare & Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs. We also provide technical assistance to other CMS programs and activities regarding health information technology including survey and certification of facilities, program integrity, quality reporting and new value driven health care initiatives such as Accountable Care Organizations.
Special Assistant for Quality Improvement and Survey and Certification Operation

Split time between policy development, program management and outreach for the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record Programs and serving as a special assistant to the senior executive responsible for quality improvement and survey and certification including by providing analysis on the human and budgetary resources needed for survey and certification operations, handling special survey questions and managing several internal quality improvement projects.
Presidential Management Fellow

The Presidential Management Fellowship is a government-wide program to develop future managers and leaders. Over two years I rotated among all major programmatic areas of CMS including traditional fee-for-service, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Quality Improvement, and Survey and Certification Operations.

International Research Training Program in the School of Public Health National Institute of Health training grants focusing on providing graduate education and training to public health professionals in several developing countries. As program coordinator, I provided financial management, training on the electronic grant submission through grants.gov and general administration including international travel arrangements.
